What belongs in a contractor weekly note—and what does not

A short template that keeps labour counts, material arrivals, and blockers useful for owners without turning the note into a novel.

Construction scaffolding against a building under construction

Weekly notes fail when they become diaries. Owners need headcount by trade, materials received, work completed against the programme, and blockers that need owner action.

Photos help when they show a completed bay or installed run, dated and labelled. Unlabelled wide shots of the whole site rarely settle a dispute later.

Avoid copying the same paragraph each week. If progress is unchanged, say so in one line and name the dependency. Silence or repetition both hide delay.

Our Contractor Reporting Desk issues a Friday digest that folds each contractor’s note into one page. Missing submissions are listed plainly so owners can chase them.

Introduce the template at kickoff, not mid-project. Contractors adapt faster when expectations are part of the first site meeting in Ben Luc or on your own yard.
